A Daily Moisturizer, Reformulated
Made for Real, Everyday Wear
A rich mineral balm that conditions and softens skin, seals in moisture, wears matte and non-greasy, and is formulated to better handle warmth. Nine simple ingredients, handcrafted in small batches.
High-Temperature Formula
Made with high-melt-point carnauba wax and beeswax, the balm is formulated to better hold its texture in warmer conditions than a typical oil-based balm, then soften on skin as you apply it.
Matte, Non-Greasy Finish
Arrowroot powder gives a smooth, matte finish, so this rich balm wears clean and conditioned rather than slick or oily.
9 Honest Ingredients
Nine ingredients you can pronounce, each listed with its purpose. No synthetic fragrance, no parabens, sulfates, or phthalates, no fillers.
The Reformulation
Formulated for Warmer Conditions
Built Around High-Melt-Point Waxes
A central focus of the reformulation was how the balm behaves as the temperature rises. Oil-and-butter balms can soften when they get warm, so we rebuilt the texture around naturally high-melt-point waxes that are intended to help it stay firmer for longer.
Carnauba wax, one of the hardest plant waxes, anchors the structure, with beeswax and a higher-melt coconut oil supporting it. Together they are designed to help the balm resist softening in everyday warmth, such as a bag, a cabinet, or a warm room. Like any natural balm, it can still soften in sustained or extreme heat, so we don't recommend leaving it somewhere like a closed car on a hot day.
On contact with skin, it softens and spreads smoothly for an even application and a generally consistent feel from one use to the next.
Carnauba and beeswax are chosen for their naturally high melt points.
Warmth from your skin helps it spread smoothly and evenly.
Formulated to better handle everyday warmth than a typical oil-based balm.
What's Inside
Nine Ingredients, Each With a Purpose
This balm is made with exactly nine ingredients, listed below in order of concentration. Each one earns its place, whether it conditions the skin, seals in moisture, builds the warm-weather texture, or shapes the soft matte finish.
Jojoba is the base of the whole formula and the carrier that everything else is blended into. Because it so closely resembles the skin's own oils, it sinks in quickly and leaves skin feeling soft and conditioned rather than greasy.
As the most abundant ingredient, jojoba does the heavy lifting on moisture: it hydrates, conditions, and helps support the skin's natural moisture barrier through the day. It suits most skin types and forms the conditioning base the rest of the balm is built on.
Made with finely milled non-nano zinc oxide, a naturally occurring mineral. In this balm it gives the formula its soft, opaque body and a gentle natural tint.
Paired with the arrowroot powder, the zinc settles into a smooth, even matte finish on the skin. “Non-nano” simply means the mineral particles are larger than 100 nanometers.
Beeswax is the natural binder that holds the oils and minerals together into one smooth, stable balm that won't separate in the jar. It adds body and a soft, conditioning glide.
It also contributes to the formula's warm-weather performance, helping the balm hold its texture as the temperature rises.
We use a higher-melt-point coconut oil, chosen specifically for the structure it brings. It helps keep the balm firmer at room temperature, then softens on contact with the warmth of your skin.
Coconut oil also conditions and softens, working alongside the jojoba to keep the balm nourishing and rich.
Lanolin is the balm's sealing emollient and the piece that ties the whole system together. The jojoba and coconut bring conditioning moisture to the skin; lanolin's job is to hold it there, forming a soft, breathable seal that slows moisture loss — exactly what skin wants after time out in wind, cold, or sun.
It also works hand in hand with the beeswax and carnauba wax: where those waxes give the balm its firm, heat-steady structure, lanolin keeps it supple and helps it melt smoothly onto skin, for a richer, longer-lasting feel than the oils could give on their own. Lanolin is derived from wool, so please spot test first if you have a known wool or lanolin sensitivity.
Carnauba is one of the hardest natural plant waxes, with one of the highest melt points in the botanical world. It is central to the reformulated, higher-temperature texture.
A small amount helps the balm stay firmer in warm conditions and adds a smooth, refined quality to the finish, so the texture stays more consistent wherever you carry it.
Arrowroot is a fine plant starch, and it is what gives the balm its smooth matte, non-greasy finish. It absorbs excess surface oil and helps the balm set quickly after you apply it.
It also softens the look of the zinc oxide for a more even appearance, and because it sets fast, the rich balm feels clean and conditioned rather than greasy or slick.
Vitamin E is an antioxidant-rich oil that conditions the skin and supports a healthy-looking complexion.
Within the formula it also helps keep the natural oils fresh over time, which is part of how this balm stays stable without synthetic preservatives.
Lavender gives the Scented version its soft, calming botanical aroma, with no synthetic fragrance needed. A little goes a long way.
Prefer no scent at all? Choose the Un-Scented option and we leave the lavender out, so you get the same base without it.
How To Use
Three Simple Steps
Cleanse
Start with clean, dry skin, after your morning wash or as the final step in your routine.
Apply a Thin, Even Layer
Smooth a small amount over your face and neck in a thin, even layer. A little goes a long way, so build up gradually if you want more coverage.
Let It Set
Give it a minute or two to settle into a soft, matte, conditioned finish that feels rich but never greasy.
Please Spot Test First
New to this balm, or prone to sensitive skin? Do a quick spot test before regular use: apply a small amount to the inside of your wrist or elbow and wait 24 hours. If you notice any irritation or a reaction, stop using it. This balm contains lanolin, which is derived from wool and can be an allergen for some people.
Common Questions
Everything You Need to Know
Does it leave a white cast?
A little at first. The non-nano zinc oxide gives the balm a naturally pale, opaque look, and the arrowroot powder helps it blend down to a smooth, even matte finish as you massage it in. A small amount spread in a thin layer blends most easily. Deeper skin tones may notice a faint softening of tone right after applying that settles as the balm absorbs.
Can I use it every day?
Yes. It is made as a daily moisturizer. Smooth a thin layer over your face and neck each morning, or morning and night if your skin likes a little extra moisture. A little goes a long way, and it settles to a soft, matte, non-greasy finish.
How long does one jar last?
With daily use on the face and neck, a 4 oz jar typically lasts about 8 to 10 weeks. A little goes a long way, so you only need a small amount each time.
What changed in the new formula?
We reworked the texture to better handle warmth. Carnauba wax is new, and alongside beeswax and a higher-melt coconut oil it is formulated to help the balm hold its texture in warmer conditions and soften smoothly on skin. It also sets to a smoother, more matte finish than before. The handcrafted, small-batch, botanical character stays the same. Like any natural balm, it can still soften in sustained or extreme heat.
Is there an unscented option?
Yes. The Scented version gets its soft, calming aroma from a touch of lavender essential oil, with no synthetic fragrance. Choose the Un-Scented option and we leave the lavender out entirely, so you get the same base with no added scent.
I have sensitive skin. Anything I should do first?
Yes — please spot test first (see above): a small amount on the inside of your wrist, then wait 24 hours. The formula contains no synthetic fragrance, parabens, sulfates, or phthalates. It does contain lanolin, which is derived from wool and can be an allergen for some people, so patch test or skip it if you have a known wool or lanolin sensitivity. If you are sensitive to essential oils, choose the Un-Scented option, which leaves the lavender out. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
